Bix, El Camino Men Win SoCal Preview Meet

NORWALK -  The South Coast Conference's El Camino College tied San Diego Mesa for the men's cross country title at the SoCal Preview Meet held at Cerritos College's Don Knabe Community Regional Park course on September 14.

San Diego Mesa and El Camino each scored 90 points to tie for first while El Camino's Carson Bix won the individual title in 20:01.5 on the 4-mile course. El Camino had three runners in the top 11, a group that included Ethan Comeaux (20:28.0) and Manny Gil (290.32.9) in 10th and 11th places, respectively. There were 313 runners from more than 30 colleges at the event.

(Note--El Camino technically took first place due to the NCAA tiebreaker rule, but that rule did not apply when two women's teams tied at the SCC cross country championships in 2017).

Other SCC teams finished as follows: Cerritos, 8th place; Chaffey, 17th; Long Beach City 18th; Pasadena City 20th; East Los Angeles 24th; and LA Harbor 26th.

Mt. San Antonio, ranked No. 1 in the state by the coach's association, chose not to enter the SoCal meet, racing instead at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 15.
