ECC's Leilua Named State Women's Volleyball Player of Week

For the second time in three weeks, a South Coast Conference student-athlete was named California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association State Player of the Week. El Camino College's Phina Leilua, 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Mira Costa High, was this week's selection from the SoCal Region as she follows opening week award winner--Pasadena City College's Leslie Rivera.

Leilua played well in three matches against top-flight competition, including El Camino's wins over MiraCosta and Grossmont. She scored 23 kills and hit .455 in a 4-set triumph over MiraCosta and had 18 kills and 11 digs in a 5-set loss v. Canyons. Leilua totaled 50 kills, 28 digs and six blocks overall in the three contests. Leilua's Warriors are ranked No. 3 in the current State Top 25.
