Former SCC Coach of the Year/Mt. SAC Football Icon Bill Fisk Passes At 75

Former Mt. San Antonio College football head coach Bill Fisk, 75, passed away October 3 at his home in Elizabeth, Colorado, after a long battle with prostate cancer.  Fisk was part of the Mt. SAC athletics family for nearly four decades and led the Mounties to their first national championship in 1997. 

During his 18-year career as head coach, he was the first Mt. SAC football coach to reach 100 wins and finished his career with an overall record of 126 wins, 64 losses and 2 ties (.661 winning percentage).  Fisk mentored hundreds of outstanding student-athletes and a number of coaches that went on to excel at the 4-year university and professional ranks. 

In 1992-1993, Fisk was named the South Coast Conference Men's Sports Coach of the Year for all sports. The SCC hosted football from 1968-1983 and again in 1986-1987. Up until the 2000s, non-SCC hosted sports coaches were considered for the South Coast all-sports coaching awards.

Fisk garnered numerous other honors throughout his career and in retirement was inducted into the California Community College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2016) and Mt. SAC Athletics Hall of Fame (2017).

Fisk prepped at San Gabriel High School and then followed in his father's legendary footsteps, attending USC where his father coached.  At USC, he was a member of the 1962 National Championship Team and was a 1962 All-American at guard.  After a short stint in the NFL, Fisk joined Mt. SAC as a professor and coach, where he remained, for his entire career, until retiring in 2004.

He is survived by his wife Tona, brother Bob, son David, daughter-in-law Laura, daughter Kristen, son-in-law John, daughter Lauren, son Brady and grandsons Rider and Hudson.
