Five SCC Teams Make Top 14 Men's Cross Country Rankings

Led by Mt. San Antonio at #2, five South Coast Conference teams are on this week's 5CTCA Men's Cross Country SoCal Rankings.

San Diego Mesa is the #1 team from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference while 2-time defending CCCAA state champion Mt. SAC was ranked #2.

The SCC is well represented on the poll with El Camino at #4, Cerritos at #9, LA Harbor at #12, and Long Beach City at #14.

At the Sept. 13 SoCal Preview Meet held at Mission Bay, Mt. SAC placed second and El Camino fifth overall. Six South Coast harriers placed individually in the top 12 including a conference-best second place by El Camino's Manny Gil (21:27.6) over the 4-mile course. Last year, the Warriors boasted state champ Carson Bix.

The other top finishers from the SCC were Mt. SAC's Isaiah Wilson (fifth), Daniel Abdala (sixth), Zachary Alexander (ninth), and Lorenzo Orozco (11th) plus Long Beach runner Donovan Zavala (12th). Top runners from other South Coast schools were Jaime Quinones (Cerritos, 42nd), Asa Barton (Pasadena City, 53rd) and Angel Perez (LA Harbor, 55th).

The SCC Championships are scheduled for Nov. 1 at a site to be determined according to a recent report that the intended Legg Lake course at Whittier Narrows Park in South El Monte may be unavailable.
