Mt. SAC Rolls 7 In A Row In SCC Men's Cross Country Titles
COMPLETE 2019 SCC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS
For the seventh straight year and 21st in its history, Mt. San Antonio College won the South Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Championship, scoring 27 team points at the finals meet held Friday at Irvine Regional Park. El Camino finished second with 56 points and Los Angeles Harbor came in third with 87 points.
Mt. SAC dominated the front of the field beginning with SCC conference individual champion Isaiah Wilson, who covered the 4-mile course in a time of 21:53.1. He was the only racer in the 89-man field to break 22 minutes. Mounties teammate Daniel Abdala (22:06.8) was second. Lorenzo Orozco (sixth), Marco Perez (ninth), Zackary Alexander (10th), Bryce Butler (11th), and Zacharia Budd (14th) gave Mt. SAC an impressive half of the enter 14-man, All-SCC Team.
Wilson gave Mt. SAC its fifth consecutive SCC individual champion.
El Camino's Manny Gil (22:07.8) and Michael Yaskowtiz (22:15.5) broke up some of the Mt. SAC glory by finishing in third and fourth place, respectively. Yaskowitz also placed fourth, ironically, at the 2017 conference meet while Gil improved one spot from his 2018 finish. Pablo Calderon of Cerritos was fifth and LA Harbor's Roberto Morales seventh to also make the 2019 All-SCC First Team.
Ranked #2 in the state behind San Diego Mesa, the Mounties and other qualifying conference teams and individuals will participate in the Southern California Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 8, at Mission Park in San Diego.
