Mt. SAC Women's Tennis Rich: Vich Singles-Double Champ, Mounties Top SCC

After winning the South Coast Conference women's tennis team title, Mt. San Antonio College followed with Julianna Vich capturing both the conference individual singles and doubles crowns at the SCC Tournament on April 5-6, held at Mt. SAC's courts.

The Mounties (5-5 overall) won a 3-team league v. El Camino and Victory Valley this year with a 3-0 record, then lost to Glendale in the SoCal Regional Playoffs Round 1, 5-3, on March 28 to conclude their team season.

Vich defeated teammate Paige Valenzuela, 6-1, 6-2, in the individual singles championship match and teamed with Valenzuela to win the doubles title over two other Mt. SAC teammates Emma Cervantes and Azalia Rodriguez, 8-2, in the all Mounties' final.

On April 25-28, several conference players from the three teams will participate at the 3C2A State Individual Championships at various venues in Ventura-Oxnard as well the Ojai Athletic Club (April 27-28 only). 

Mt. SAC won its fifth-ever SCC women's tennis team title and first since 2015. 

El Camino duo of Jhanine Estigoy and Karen Canela were conference semifinalists and Victor Valley had a strong doubles pair in Khloe Burfield and Melany Raya

SCC Coach of the Year honors went to Mt. SAC's Lee Shiomoto.
