ECC Volleyball Starts SCC South Play With Sweep at Cerritos

(NORWALK) -- The state No. 3-ranked El Camino College women's volleyball team began South Coast Conference, South Division action with a dominant sweep, 25-8, 25-16, 25-17, at Cerritos College Wednesday night.  

Phina Leilua led the team with 12 kills and a .333 attacking percentage while Meris Ewell chipped in with 11 kills and a .625 percentage for the Warriors (10-1, 1-0).

Caitlin Donatucci (18) and Keri Isara (17) dished out 35 of the team's 39 assists while setting the team to a .344 attacking percentage. Mikayla Clark led the team and posted a season high with 15 digs while adding six kills without an error.

State #5 rated Long Beach City College swept LA Trade Tech in another SCC South contest. Both El Camino and LBCC shared the SCC South title last season.

The Warriors will hit the road for a non-conference contest at No. 8 Bakersfield on Friday. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
