Repeat SCC Titles for El Camino, Long Beach, Pasadena In Women's Volleyball

It was deja vu for South Coast Conference women's volleyball in 2018. Just as it happened last year, El Camino and Long Beach City Colleges tied for the South Division title while Pasadena City also won its second straight SCC North championship.

State No. 9-ranked Long Beach won a share of the SCC South crown thanks to a 5-set victory over No. 5 El Camino on Tuesday night. Both teams finished with 7-1 division records. Meanwhile, PCC clinched first place in the SCC North by sweeping Chaffey on November 9. The Lancers went 6-2 to win the division.

It is El Camino's ninth consecutive SCC title, 17th in the last 18 years, and 20th in its SCC history. Long Beach picks up its eight South Coast volleyball crown. Pasadena now has four SCC titles also winning in 2012 (shared with El Camino) and 2009 (outright entire conference).

ECC head coach Liz Hazell is 2-for-2 in winning titles since taking over the Warriors' program for the legendary Le Valley Pattison in 2017. LBCC head coach Misty May-Treanor and PCC head coach Mike Terrill are both 2-for-3 in capturing conference titles in the three seasons they've been directing their programs.

Since El Camino won five of the eight sets in their head-to-head matchups against Long Beach, the Warriors will be seeded ahead of the Vikings in the upcoming SoCal Regional Playoffs.
