LBCC, Cerritos Off To Good SCC Women's Water Polo Start

Long Beach City and Cerritos Colleges are both 2-0 to begin the South Coast Conference women's water polo schedule as the two squads figure to battle it out for this year's title.

The Vikings are 9-1 overall and Cerritos 7-3 as they are the only conference schools that have above .500 overall records going into this week's play. Mt. San Antonio is next best at 4-4.

LBCC is rated #4 on the Kap7 State Top 10 Rankings while Cerritos is not on this week's poll after coming in at #6 only a week earlier. The SCC hasn't won a state title in women's water polo since 2008 when Cerritos captured the crown.

Long Beach is the state's top scoring team at 15.5 goals per game. Viking attacker Jillian Schultz leads the conference in goals (35) and steals (25). Amy Cervantes of Cerritos has a SCC-high 31 assists. LBCC goalie Alinna Perez tops the SCC in save percentage (.471) and Cerritos goalie April Nuno has 51 saves (.459 save percentage).
