SCC Schedule

A 6-time defending champion of the South Coast Conference, the Long Beach City College women's water polo team continues to set itself apart from its seven SCC opponents in 2022.

With two more victories to open conference play, the Vikings extended a SCC-only winning streak to 57 consecutive games going back to the 2015 season.

Ranked #5 in the first State Top 10 coaches poll, LBCC (7-3) defeated Pasadena City, 16-1, and Rio Hondo, 22-4, in its South Coast wins. All-SCC First Team letterman Chayma Hlanadif leads the Vikings with 30 goals (second among conference players). Kaya Barrett, also a returning conference First Teamer, has 13 goals, 17 assists and 17 steals in the early going.

Cerritos (5-6 overall) was off to a 3-0 start to conference action, recording wins over Rio Hondo, 15-3, Chaffey, 10-8, and East Los Angeles, 15-1. The Falcons have many of the SCC leaders in returning All-SCC First Teamers Angelina Romero (tops in goals with 46, second in the state) and Miranda Alvarez (leader in assists, 29, and steals, 28). Top goalie Alyssa Sorrells has collected 115 saves, good enough for third in the state.

Mt. San Antonio (7-3) is also 2-0 in SCC play with victories over Chaffey, 12-8, and ELAC, 14-1. Alexis Ramirez had 14 goals and All-SCC First Team selection from last year Xen Allen compiled 13 goals and 20 steals through six games for the Mounties. Mt. SAC went 3-1 at its hosted Mountie Classic tourney on Sept. 23-24.

El Camino (3-4) opened SCC play with a 15-2 win over East Los Angeles. The other two ECC victories were in tournament play over both ELAC and Rio Hondo. Melissa Brill was El Camino's go-to scorer thus far with 19 goals.

Chaffey (2-5) is paced by All-SCC First Teamer from last season Clarissa Baneulos, who already has 17 goals in the team's first five games this year. Pasadena (0-3) has a solid goalie in Gloria Gray, who made 16 saves in a loss to Southwestern.

ELAC (0-7) and Rio Hondo (0-9) are still searching for their first wins.

The SCC Championship Tournament takes place this year at El Camino College on Nov. 4-5.
