SCC South Co-Champ Long Beach, Chaffey Still Going In Men's Cagers Regionals

South Coast Conference South Division Co-Champion Long Beach City College and SCC North second-place Chaffey are among the teams remaining in the race for the CCCAA men's basketball state title. The two teams advanced to Saturday's SoCal Regional Round 3 finals.

The SCC entered the postseason with strong seedings as follows: SCC North champion and #2 East Los Angeles, #4 Chaffey, SCC South Co-Champ and #5 Cerritos, #6 LBCC, and #14 Pasadena City. 

SoCal Regional Playoff Bracket

The Vikings are on a 10-game winning streak and play at #3 seed Citrus College while Chaffey hosts #12 West Los Angeles. The winners then advance to the CCCAA State Championships at Ventura College March 14, 16-17. LBCC is led by SCC South MVP and conference-leading scorer Jace Bass while Chaffey is carried by co-North MVP and center Manu Oulai. 

East LA, led this season by co-North MVP Solomon Hunt and 4-time consecutive Coach of the Year John Mosley, was upset by #15 Santa Monica in Round 2. 

In the CCCMBCA State Top 30 final regular season rankings, ELAC was #3, Chaffey #7, Cerritos #9, Long Beach #11, and Pasadena #27. 

East Los Angeles (9-1) won its fourth straight SCC North Division championship and fifth overall (also 2014). Cerritos and Long Beach shared the SCC South Division title with 9-1 records. It is Cerritos second straight title and a remarkable 25 overall SCC crowns in men's basketball dating back to 1971. Long Beach won its first title since 2015 and its 10th overall (first one was in 1991).
