Plenty of High Finishes For SCC At State Men's Track and Field Meet

Complete State Meet Results

While Riverside City College picked up the big prize in winning the team championship, South Coast Conference schools performed a bevy of high finishes at the 2019 CCCAA Men's Track and Field Championships held May 17-18 at College of San Mateo. 

Mt. San Antonio placed as state runner-up with 73 points, El Camino finished in fifth (53) while Cerritos took sixth (49). 

SCC student-athletes won three events including Mt. SAC's Salvador Capetillo repeating as the 10,000 meter state champion (31:30.15), the Mounties' Chris Weiland winning the 1,500 race in 3:56.07 and Cerritos' Daniel Stokes scoring the gold in the 400 meters in 46.60 seconds. 

Second place silver medals were secured by Stokes in the 200 meters, El Camino's Carson Bix in the 1,500, Cerritos sprinter Kendall Turner in the 100 dash, Capetillo in the 5,000 race (Weiland third in that event), the Warriors' Qwintin Workman in both the 400 hurdles and long jump, Mt. SAC's Colby Penn in the 3,000 steeplechase, and Cerritos in the 4x100 relay. 

At the Southern California Championships on May 11, Mt. SAC placed second and Cerritos was third as host Riverside won that finals meet.
