Mt. SAC's Triple Crown Goris Named SCC Softball Player of the Year
Mt. San Antonio College first baseman Brianna Goris, who accomplished the Triple Crown by leading the conference in batting average, home runs, and RBI, was a unanimous choice as the South Coast Conference Player of the Year as part of the 25-player, 2022 All-SCC Softball Team selected Thursday at the coaches postseason meeting held at Rio Hondo College.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the first time the sport had an All-SCC team selected since the 2019 season.
A freshman, Goris led the state #1-ranked Mounties (37-3 overall) to the SCC title (19-2 in conference play) and a current 20-game winning streak going into the SoCal Regional Playoffs. She is batting .584 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI. In 36 games that she has appeared in, Goris leads the state in homers, RBI, on-base percentage (.664) and slugging percentage (1.248).
Cerritos ace Samantha Islas (21-6, 1.31 ERA) was named SCC Pitcher of the Year and Mt. SAC's interim head coach Jim Bollier was selected Coach of the Year.
Mt. San Antonio had six total players named to the First and Second Teams while second-place Cerritos, third-place Long Beach City, and fourth-place El Camino received four selections each.
