Vikings Win 5th Consecutive South Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championship
For the fifth straight year, Long Beach City College captured the South Coast Conference women's water polo title by defeating Cerritos, 12-6, in the SCC Tournament championship match played Nov. 9 at Cerritos College. Long Beach has a current 45-match conference winning streak dating back to 2015.
The Vikings (23-5) made its fourth straight undefeated run to a title, 10-0 this year. In the title match for LBCC, Rachel Westphal scored five goals and goalie Alinna Perez was spectacular with 15 saves.
Mt. San Antonio took third place with an 11-7 win over Pasadena City, a team that had its highest conference finish in 12 years in fourth. Julia Bensing-Ruiz scored four goals to lead the Mounties
Behind four goals by Jasmine Morales, East Los Angeles grabbed fifth place over Chaffey, 10-9. El Camino downed Rio Hondo, 10-7, in the seventh place final. Sonni Garcia scored five goals for the Warriors.
Long Beach earned the #4 seed and Cerritos #7 seed for this week's Southern California Regional Tournament at Riverside City College Nov. 14-16.
