El Camino College baseball is off to a strong start.

Led by No. 2-ranked Mt. San Antonio, five South Coast Conference baseball teams made the 2019 pre-season Southern California coach's association top 20 ratings.

The defending SCC North Division champion Mounties were followed by last year's SCC South champion Cerritos at No. 8, El Camino at No. 10, Long Beach City at No. 17 and East Los Angeles at No. 18.

During the non-conference schedule, Mt. SAC was 4-4 to start the season while El Camino has the best record of SCC teams thus far at 7-1. The Warriors had won seven in a row before being tripped up by Bakersfield, 4-3 in 11 innings in the third game of a 3-game series.

Unranked Chaffey has the best record among North Division teams at 6-2, but lost two straight since the Panthers opened with a 6-game win streak. While four teams are below .500 in the South, the North has no one under the .500 mark. East LA is 5-3 thus far to trail Chaffey. Rio Hondo is 3-2.

El Camino has the best pitching ERA among conference teams at seventh in the state (2.21). Pasadena City (3-3) has the highest batting average out of the SCC colleges at .303 (11th in the state).
