SCC Champion Mt. SAC Leads 6 Squads Into SoCal Baseball Playoffs; All-SCC Team Released

Mt. San Antonio College ran away with the South Coast Conference championship in baseball and now leads five other SCC squads into the postseason as the SoCal Regionals' top seed.
The Mounties (35-5 overall) won their first SCC crown since 2022 and eighth in their conference history with a 22-2 league mark, finishing four games ahead of second-place Cerritos. They finished #3 in the CCCSIA State Top 25 poll.
On a 10-game win streak and led by SCC and state batting champion Landon White (.472 overall average), Mt. SAC will host #24 Desert as one of many best-of-3 Regional Round 1 series to be played May 2-3. Cerritos (31-9) picked up the #4 seed and faces #21 Allan Hancock while third-place El Camino (28-12) is #9 to host #16 Saddleback. There was a 3-way tie for fourth place this year between Long Beach City, Pasadena City and East Los Angeles, all with 12-12 conference records.
Long Beach (19-21) held the SCC tiebreaker and earned #20 as it plays at #5 Glendale. PCC (21-16) needed two wins over ELAC in the last week of the regular season to earn #22 and it will play at #3 Palomar. East LA (19-20) snuck in at #23 and plays at #2 Cypress.
White was named the SCC Most Valuable Player and Mounties' head coach John Knott selected SCC Coach of the Year. Cerritos hurler Nolan Patterson was chosen the SCC Pitcher of the Year, a season after his teammate Derek Valdez was the '24 top conference pitcher.
The South Coast features a bevy of state statistical leaders this season.
The four winningest pitchers in the SoCal Region (top six in state) all are SCC hurlers in state wins leader Valdez 11-2, 1.51 ERA, and Noah Andrunas, 10-0, 2.53, both from Cerritos, and Mt. SAC's duo of Izeah Muniz, 10-1, 2.36 and SoCal strikeouts leader with 96, and Hudson Castillo, 9-1, SoCal ERA leader at 1.39. El Camino's closer Slater Nunez leads the region in saves with seven.
The SCC also has three of the top four RBI producers in the state in Cerritos first baseman Wyatt Ormonde (64 RBI, region leader) and the Mounties pair of second baseman Tyler Stull and third baseman Ty Thomas each tied for third with 62 driven in. White, the state hits leader with 92 and doubles leader with 27, happens to be also tied for fifth in ribbies with 61.
Mounties' centerfielder Bryan Bradshaw is the state's runs leader with 77 (White tied for second with 65) and he is fourth in California in on-base percentage (.548). Cerritos outfielder Diego Orozco is second in the state in walks drawn with 52.
