Cerritos, Mt. SAC Again Class of the SCC In Men's Soccer
Fcr the third straight season since the South Coast Conference split into two divisions in men's soccer, Mt. San Antonio College won the North Division title and Cerritos College took home the South Division championship. Both teams went undefeated in divisional play with Cerritos finishing 7-0-1 and Mt. SAC at 6-0-2.
Not surprisingly, Cerritos was No. 1 in the state and in the current regional power points standings with Mt. SAC No. 2 in the region, fifth in the state. The Falcons are on an 18-game undefeated streak (17-0-1) and haven't lost since the opening match v. College of the Desert. Cerritos is 17-1-2 overall. Mt. SAC (16-3-3 overall) is on an 8-game undefeated stretch (7-0-1).
It is the Mounties 13th title (all going back to 1999) and the eighth conference championship for Cerritos, which won its first SCC title in 1979.
Kevin Diaz of Cerritos was the entire SCC scoring champion with 49 points and tied Mt. SAC's Giovanny Garcia for most goals with 18 each.
