Mt. SAC's Eric Yeh Dominates At South Coast Men's Swim Pentathlon

Mt. San Antonio College's Eric Yeh put on a clinic at the South Coast Conference Pentathlon that kicked off the conference's 2024 men's swimming season at El Camino College on Feb. 9.

Yeh won a remarkable four individual events and helped the Mounties set an ECC pool record in the 200-yard medley relay with teammates Markus Stegbuchner, Luke Pedroche, and Ray Chun at 1:37.74.

Yeh scored his first win in the 200 individual medley in a pool record time of 1:58.69, then edged Long Beach City's Nathaniel D'Aloisio by .11 of a second in 52.66 to capture the 100 butterfly event. He followed with a victory in the 100 backstroke in 54.20, then capped the day in a 100 freestyle first-place swim at 48.67.

Stegbuchner, last year's SCC Swimmer of the Year, scored a win in the 100 breaststroke, breaking his own pool record of a year earlier in 59.78.

D'Aloisio had a strong day as he also placed second in the 200 IM (2:00.21) and was fourth in both the 100 backstroke (56.21) and 100 breaststroke in 1:01.27.

Other top swims were performed by the El Camino 200 medley relay squad of Fin Kircher, Ryan Song, Justin Rash and Alex Yousefi (second place, 1:40.32), Song's third place in the 200 IM (2:00.61) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (49.50), Kircher's second in the 100 backstroke (55.40), third in the 100 freestyle (49.30), and fourth in both the 200 IM (2:01.52) and 100 butterfly (54.89), and Mt. SAC's Chun taking second in each of the 100 breaststroke (1:00.54) and 100 freestyle (49.10).

Additionally, Mt. SAC's Jason Matsuda was third in the 100 butterfly (54.49), Pedroche third in the 100 backstroke (55.76), Pasadena City's Michael Petersen third in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.27). 

Top swims from other schools included Chaffey's Ben Kraveishvili 12th in the 100 backstroke (1:00.74) and Cerritos' Ruben Montoya 18th in the 100 butterfly (59.57). Rio Hondo's Isaac DeSantos represented his school in several swims .
