COMPLETE SCC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Mt. San Antonio College continues to test the limits on its domination of South Coast Conference men's track and field. On April 23 and 27 at El Camino College, the Mounties obliterated the conference record for most points at the SCC Prelims/Finals by winning 19 of a possible 21 events in capturing its 24th team championship in the last 28 seasons.

Mt. SAC broke its own SCC points record with 498.66, snapping the mark of 470.5 set two seasons ago. The Mounties won their third straight crown and 31st in SCC history.

FINAL STANDINGS: 1. Mt. San Antonio 498.66, 2. Cerritos 100.5, 3. Long Beach City 84.33, 4. El Camino 81.5, 5. Pasadena City 32, 6. East Los Angeles 9.

Only events win by Cerritos' Daniel Chavez in the shot put (41 feet, 6.5 inches) and El Camino's Lotanna Muonagor in the high jump (6-2.75) prevented Mt. SAC from making a clean sweep in event victories.

Drew Hill (100, 200 meter dashes), Devin Paton (400 hurdles, long jump), and and Dominic Tubbs (discus, javelin) were all double champions. Christian Baker recorded the state's fastest time in winning the 110 hurdles in 14.35 while Quintin Dukes won the pole vault but both he and teammate Austin Pepito (second place) each hit the state best in the event at 15-5.

The monopoly for Mt. SAC included at least the top three finishers in 11 different events, including the top 7 placings in both the 3,000 steeplechase and pole vault.
