SCC North Put 4 In State Top 10 Of SIA women's basketball rankings

Four teams from the South Coast Conference North Division are a part of the upper 10 of this week's California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) Women's Basketball State Top 20 Rankings. The Big 8's Diablo Valley continues to occupy the No. 1 spot, earning 12 of 15 first-place votes. 

The SCC Fearsome Foursome are East Los Angeles at No. 4, Los Angeles Trade Tech at No. 6, Pasadena City at No. 7 and Mt. San Antonio returning to the state top 10 at No. 10. In the 11th spot is another SCC team in South Division leader El Camino. 

Currently, ELAC and Mt. SAC are tied for the North lead with 2-0 records.

Trade Tech's Cheyenne Givens is fourth in the state in scoring with a 22.8 points per game average. Pasadena's Dariel Johnson is third in the state in rebounding (14.7 average) and leads the state in block shots average at 4.6 per game. 

PCC is No. 2 in team defense at 51.5 points allowed per game while Mt. San Antonio is fifth at 53.2. Trade Tech is fourth in offense (83.4) and East LA sixth (80.3). Thanks to Johnson, Pasadena is the state team leader in blocked shots as well (6.2). Trade Tech is No. 6 in steals (14.5). Rio Hondo is fourth in assists average (18.7) and ELAC seventh (17.8). Cerritos is fifth in free throw shooting (71.4), East LA fifth in 3-point shooting accuracy (34 percent) and the Huskies are sixth in overall FG shooting (42 percent).
