Mt. SAC wins another SCC North Division title in 2022.
Mt. SAC wins another SCC North Division title in 2022.

Mt. San Antonio College, the state's #3-ranked team, captured its second straight South Coast Conference North Division women's basketball title for the program's 20th SCC championship in the sport. Long Beach City College picked up its second consecutive SCC South title, sharing it with Cerritos College.

The Mounties (23-3) had a perfect 8-0 trip through the SCC North, including a number of close victories. Currently on a 16-game win streak, Mt. SAC earned a 5-point triumph over Pasadena CC, two 6-point victories over East Los Angeles and Los Angeles Trade-Tech, and a 7-point win over ELAC. Mt. SAC also is 3-0 v. its fellow crossover champs, winning two v. LBCC (one in tournament play). The Mounties have won 19 of their titles in this century alone.

East LA (19-7), ranked #8 in the CCCSIA State Top 20, placed second in the SCC North at 6-2. Rio Hondo placed third, LA Trade-Tech fourth, and Pasadena was fifth. The Lancers had their worst season since 1995-96, currently at 8-15 and will miss the postseason for the first time since 2001. The North, a division that had all five teams reach the 2020 playoffs. had a down year with Rio Hondo and LATT also finishing with less than .500 overall records.

Long Beach (21-6), rated 20th in the most recent poll, went 9-1 overall in the division, but three were by forfeits due to low player numbers issues that plagued Compton and LA Southwest. LBCC won its eighth South Coast championship by winning the second meeting v. Cerritos, 68-62, on Feb. 11. The Falcons also at 9-1 had won the first encounter v. the Vikings, 62-57, on Jan. 26. Cerritos (19-8) collected its 13th conference title.

LA Harbor and El Camino shared third place with 5-5 division marks.

It was the 14th time that a SCC women's championship was shared and first since Cerritos and El Camino were co-South champs in 2019. Cerritos has been involved in five of the co-titles in SCC history.

The SoCal Regional Playoff seedings of South Coast squads will be released via Twitter: @SouthCoastConf1. The All-SCC teams will be released next week on this website.
