ECC's Park Wipes Out 5 SCC Records; LBCC Reclaims Women's Swim/Dive Team Championship

COMPLETE 2024 SCC SWIM/DIVE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

On a banner weekend where El Camino College's Mia Park eclipsed an amazing five meet records, it was Long Beach City College reclaiming the team title at the 2024 South Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships  April 18-20 at Mt. San Antonio College's new swim stadium. 

Long Beach scored 923.50 points to outdistance Mt. San Antonio (731) and win its second SCC team championship in three years. It's the program's fourth title in conference history.

Park was sensational as she swept the three distance events, setting SCC records in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:57.29, the 400 individual medley in 4:31.67, and the 1,650 freestyle at 17:14.21.

The sophomore led off ECC's 400 and 800 freestyle relays with two more conference record times for the 100 free (51.82) and 200 free (1:51.30, broke her own record from 2023).

She closes her conference career at El Camino with seven SCC records overall, breaking the 100 and 200 butterfly marks last year. Park was the obvious choice as SCC Women's Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season..

LBCC was led by Olivia Slavens, who won both the 50 (25 seconds flat) and 100 freestyle (53.79) while taking a close second in the 200 free.

Slavens was the closer on three Vikings relay title swims. She swam with Isabella Shead, Skylar Dose and Allison Knapp to win the 800 freestyle relay (8:09.30) and 400 freestyle relay (3:37.23). Slavens teamed with Elizabeth Jung, Dose and Knapp for the meet-opening 200 freestyle relay triumph (1:41.01). 

Long Beach won the team title

FINAL TEAM STANDINGS: 1. Long Beach City 923.50, 2. Mt. San Antonio 731, 3. El Camino 435.50, 4. East Los Angeles 413, 5. Cerritos 204, 6. Rio Hondo 181, 7. Chaffey 179, 8. Pasadena City 142.

Mt. SAC's Paige Fast captured the maximum three individual event titles, smashing the SCC record in the 200 backstroke at 2:09.41 while also winning the 200 freestyle (1:55.06) and 100 backstroke (1:00.78) events. She also led off the Mounties win in the 400 medley relay (4:02.05). 

Another 3-event winner was El Camino's Iyanah Samayoa, who took gold medals in the 200 IM (2:10.16), 100 (1:05.10) and 200 breaststrokes (2:20.68). Both Samayoa and Park were part of the Warriors' 200 medley relay victory. 

Mt. SAC's facility produced seven pool records overall.
