Mounties Take Fast Lane To SCC Women's Swim/Dive Championship

Paige Fast sped her way to three event victories and helped break two conference records for Mt. San Antonio College as the Mounties collected their seventh team title in the last 10 seasons at the South Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships held April 17-19 at East Los Angeles College.
Fast won the 500-yard freestyle, the 100 backstroke, and broke her own SCC record set last year to take gold again in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.88. She led off Mt. SAC's conference record swim in the 400 medley relay with teammates Spencer Damaske, Elleanna Ramos and Carolyn Kao as they won the event in 3:58.62. That broke Pasadena City's 10-year-old mark by .32 of a second.
Fast, who won six individual events in her two SCC meet years, and El Camino's Iyanah Samayoa, who matched Fast's six wins in 2024-2025, were selected as the SCC Co-Swimmers of the Year. Samayoa took gold medals in the 200 individual medley, the 100 and 200 breaststroke races. The Warriors sophomore was the Co-State Swimmer of the Year last season.
Mt. San Antonio won the team crown with 976 points to outdistance last year's champion Long Beach City at 818. El Camino placed third, followed by Cerritos and East Los Angeles.
The Mounties won all five relays as Fast participated in three of them. Kao won three events, the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles while both Damaske (100 and 400 IM) and Ramos (100 and 200 butterfly) scored a pair of event victories. Ramos shattered the 200 fly conference record in 2:06.04, breaking the mark set by ECC's Mia Park in 2023 (2:07.17).
Mt. SAC won 16 events overall including the 3-meter diving board title by Lily Burson, who totaled 155.40 points. El Camino's Olivia Mozian scored the gold in the 1,650 freestyle in 18:30.47. Long Beach's Lilia McAllister was the 1-meter board champ with 162.20 points.
FINAL SCC STANDINGS: 1. Mt. San Antonio 976, 2. Long Beach 818, 3. El Camino 403, 4. Cerritos 373, 5. East LA 300, 6. Pasadena 179, 7. Chaffey 169, 8. Rio Hondo 142.
