Mt. SAC Back In The Saddle With SCC Women's Track and Field Championship

COMPLETE SCC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Mt. San Antonio College collected its 17th South Coast Conference women's track and field team title with its performances at the SCC Prelims/Championships held April 23/27 at El Camino College. 

The Mounties won nine events and scored 319 points to outdistance rival and '23 champion Cerritos with 242.5 points.

The track and field title is Mt. SAC's 12th championship among all sports in the 2023-24 school year. 

FINAL STANDINGS: 1. Mt. San Antonio 319, 2. Cerritos 242.5, 3. Long Beach City 112, 4. El Camino 71, 5. Pasadena City 26.5, 6. East Los Angeles 21.

There were no double champions as each first-place finisher were in different events in Kahlai Cruser (800 meters), Carlota Roma Rega (400 hurdles), Brenna Butler (3,000 steeplechase), Katherine Porter (high jump), Sophia Perez (pole vault, state current best of 12 feet, 7.5 inches), Summer Stevenson (long jump), and Exacte Kamba (triple jump), and the 4x400 relay team of Tatiana Sprock, Cruser, Alyssah Johnson, and Yasmeen Delgado with a state-leading time of 3:56.25.

Cerritos picked up seven event gold medals, two by Dmitra Vitogiannis in the discus and hammer throws, and a state-best javelin throw by Andrea Villalta of 135-2.

El Camino's Sequoia Gonzales recorded the state's fastest time this year in winning the 10,000 meters in 36:58.40. 

Third-place Long Beach got a 100 hurdles win from Amareah Hamilton (14.40) and Sarayah Harris-Davis took home the shot put title. 

Fourth-place East LA earned an individual champion in Marbella Flores in the 1,500 meters.
